Organic Gardening Tips You Should Try Out!

Lots of natural ways exist for growing a bright and healthy organic garden. You just need to learn the methods and use them.

Mature Plants

Try planting your plants in flower pots first, then transferring them to your garden once they have had a bit of time to grow. They are then more likely to survive and to become thriving, mature plants. This will also allow you to stick to a tighter, cleaner planting schedule. The seedlings are ready to go, once you remove the mature plants.

Transform the handles of your tools into convenient measuring devices. Tools with substantial handles, like rakes, hoes and large shovels are great for taking measurements. Just lay your tool down on the floor then lay a yardstick beside the handle. Use a permanent marker to label distances. You will never find yourself looking for a ruler thanks to this simple tip.

If powdery mildew appears on your plants, don’t purchase expensive chemical solutions. Mix a solution of baking soda, water, and a tiny bit of dishwashing liquid. Spray this onto your plants about once per week or until it subsides. Baking soda won’t harm your plants, and takes care of the mildew efficiently and gently.

Make sure to pre-soak seeds, preferably in a dark location. Take 3-4 seeds, put them in a small jar or container, and cover them with water. This will keep your seeds hydrated and give you a little head start with your growing. This way, the seeds will have a much better shot at survival once they are planted.

Protect your deciduous shrubs which are tender. Tender shrubs are very sensitive to cold weather, especially those that are planted in pots. You want to then tie the tops of the canes together, and cover them with a sheet or blanket. This method works better than covering your bushes in plastic, allowing air to circulate and preventing rotting.

Knee Pads

If your plants do not grown very tall, try buying some knee pads used for horticulture. The time that you will have to spend on your knees in your garden can cause you unnecessary knee pain. Investing in a comfortable pair of knee pads made specifically for gardening can really reduce the pain you may feel from the pressure of being on your knees for extended periods.

Look for targeted pesticides instead of using popular but damaging broad-spectrum products. Broad spectrum pesticides don’t only kill the offending pests, but the beneficial ones also. The beneficial insects, which kill the pests, are much more sensitive to pesticides than the pests. Using them will reduce your population of good bugs, and increase the bad. This will cause a cycle to start where you will need to keep increasing the amount of pesticide you are using.

Use horticulture to relax. A plethora of paths to individual relaxation and inner peace exist. Gardening is a great way to do so. You do not need to spend a lot of money and you can reap tangible benefits. The biggest perk of gardening is the sense of satisfaction you get from what you grow with your own two hands.

While any person can make a garden, the people who know what they are doing will get the best results. It is important to put these organic tips to good use.
